PARENT TIPS FOR SAFE TRICK-OR-TREATING

  • Here are some practical trick-or-treating Halloween tips for parents in Seattle to help keep kids safe and make the holiday fun:

    •  âś… Check local neighborhood and business district event schedules for designated trick-or-treating times and best locations (such as community centers, Ballard Ave, Pike Place Market, and shopping centers).

    • âś… Use sidewalks and crosswalks, especially in busy or dimly lit areas; bring flashlights or glow sticks for visibility.

    • âś… Choose costumes that are weather-appropriate, visible at night, and fit well to avoid tripping; layer underneath for warmth.

    • âś… Review expectations with kids about staying together and only approaching homes or businesses with well-lit entrances.

    • âś… Remind children to wait until returning home to eat treats and to check all candy for any safety concerns before eating.

    • âś… Respect posted hours and be courteous to neighbors—avoid trick-or-treating too late in residential areas.

    • âś… Consider attending public, supervised events at local community centers, business districts, or shopping centers to avoid traffic and maximize safety.
